We had great talks at Superbooth 2025 with electronic gear manufacturers about developing modding friendly products. Some of them mentioned that their modules already include several modding options. A certain amount of these boards have marked solder points or even pins.
The Korg Monotron was mentioned often. Although its dense SMD printed circuit board users fully appreciate the labeled PCB and give Korg a great amount of respect for being so open.
The Doepfer’s DIY page and modules came up in the discussions often. There are quite a few options “under the hood” of these modules.
MadeOnEarth, VoicAs, Manifold Research Centre also responded without hesitation. There are more to come.
